Chapter 1: An Idea

The initial idea to take a trip to Norway first came up around February 2017. Both of us did not have any plans for the summer, so we began talking about place we would like to go and shared our phantasies regarding possible trips. That was when we first talked about heading up North. Neither one of us had been to Scan- dinavia before, although it had been lurking in the back of our heads for some time. After some thought, we decided to give this idea a chance and started planning a trip that would lead us through Germany, Denmark, parts of Sweden all the way to our destination – Norway. While planning the trip, lots of different things came to our mind, from places we wanted to see, possible routes we would like to take to get around, to the loads of camping equipment and other stuff we thought we would need.
La idea inicial de hacer un viaje a Noruega surgió alrededor de febrero de 2017. Ambos no teníamos planes para el verano, así que comenzamos a hablar sobre el lugar al que nos gustaría ir y compartimos nuestras fantasías sobre posibles viajes. Fue entonces cuando hablamos por primera vez de ir hacia el norte. Ninguno de los dos había estado en Escandinavia antes, aunque había estado acechando en el fondo de nuestras cabezas durante algún tiempo. Después de pensarlo un poco, decidimos darle una oportunidad a esta idea y comenzamos a planificar un viaje que nos llevaría a través de Alemania, Dinamarca, partes de Suecia hasta nuestro destino: Noruega. Mientras planificamos el viaje, nos vinieron a la mente muchas cosas diferentes, desde lugares que queríamos ver, posibles rutas que nos gustaría tomar para movernos, hasta un montón de equipo de campamento y otras cosas que pensamos que necesitaríamos.
Our rough plan was to travel through Germany during the night, spend some days in Copenha- gen and then continue our journey to the North with lots of vague ideas about our trip.
Finally, at the end of July, we left our hometown and hit the road.
Nuestro plan aproximado era viajar por Alemania durante la noche, pasar unos días en Copenhague y luego continuar la travesía hacia el norte con muchas ideas vagas sobre nuestro viaje.
Finalmente, a finales de julio, dejamos nuestra ciudad natal y nos pusimos en marcha.
Chapter 8
Borestranden

Bore is a small village located on the Atlantic coast between the cities of Stavanger in the north and Egersund in the south. It is home to one of the best surf spots in Norway and the reason why we paid this place a visit.
Bore es un pequeño pueblo ubicado en la costa atlántica entre las ciudades de Stavanger en el norte y Egersund en el sur. Es el hogar de uno de los mejores lugares para surfear en Noruega y esa fue la razón por la que visitamos este lugar.
Lukas and I had already planned to go surfing in Norway, so we had put our wetsuits in one of the boxes and – tadaaaaa – finally was the time to use them. Max had to borrow a wetsuit + board, but since Lukas and myself had to borrow surfboards as well, we got a fair deal. The boards were soft tops and seemed pretty used, but that did not stop us to enjoy the small waves and had loads of fun in the water. After three hours in the 15°C cold ocean, we returned with a big smile and spent the rest of the day relaxing in the car, playing cards and drinking a couple of beers.
Lukas y yo ya habíamos planeado ir a surfear a Noruega, así que pusimos nuestros trajes de neopreno en una de las cajas y, tadaaaaa, finalmente llegó el momento de usarlos. Max tuvo que pedir prestado un traje de neopreno + tabla, pero como Lukas y yo también tuvimos que pedir prestado tablas de surf, obtuvimos un trato justo. Las tablas eran blandas y parecían bastante usadas, pero eso no nos impidió disfrutar de las pequeñas olas y divertirnos mucho en el agua. Después de tres horas en el océano frío a 15 ° C, regresamos con una gran sonrisa y pasamos el resto del día relajándonos en el auto, jugando a las cartas y bebiendo un par de cervezas.
Unfortunately, the weather again took over the part of the killjoy, as it changed from sun- ny to overcast and windy, so after one and a half days, we decided to drive to Lista, a small peninsula close to Kristiansand, the city where we planned to take the ferry to Denmark again.
Desafortunadamente, el clima volvió a apoderarse de ser aguafiestas, ya que cambió de soleado a nublado y ventoso, así que después de un día y medio, decidimos conducir hasta Lista, una pequeña península cerca de Kristiansand, la ciudad donde planeamos tomar el ferry a Dinamarca nuevamente.

Sørlandet
The Last Journey
El ultimo viaje.
The drive to Lista was, again, very diverse and the landscape changed from lush, green fields to small and impressive looking mountain ridges with incredible roads. The reason why we drove to Lista was that a friend of Lukas told him about a secret surf spot close to a beacon on the south-west shore of the peninsula. But when we arrived there, the sea was flat as a pancake – what a bummer.
El viaje a Lista fue, nuevamente, muy diverso y el paisaje cambió de exuberantes y verdes campos a pequeñas e impresionantes crestas montañosas con caminos increíbles. La razón por la que fuimos en coche a Lista fue que un amigo de Lukas le contó sobre un lugar secreto para surfear cerca de una baliza en la costa suroeste de la península. Pero cuando llegamos allí, el mar estaba plano como un panqueque… qué fastidio.
Nevertheless, we managed to find a decent place to stay and the location in front of the sea with snugly-looking houses and the beacon compensated for the non-existing waves. In ad- dition, we prepared the most delicious Spaghetti Carbonara we had ever tasted over an open flame – just the thought of it...
Sin embargo, logramos encontrar un lugar decente para quedarnos y la ubicación frente al mar con casas de aspecto acogedor y la baliza compensaron las olas inexistentes. Además, preparamos los espaguetis a la carbonara más deliciosos que jamás habíamos probado sobre una llama abierta - con solo pensarlo ...
Still, we all felt that our journey would soon come to an end as it was raining almost cons- tantly, and all our belongings and equipment became moist or even wet.
Therefore, on the following day, we drove to Kristiansand, where we spent most of the day in the van because of heavy rain showers. Our patience was sorely tried and after another day of constant rain, we decided to hop on the ferry and head back home to Austria. This put an admittedly bad ending to an otherwise amazing trip.
Aún así, todos sentimos que nuestro viaje pronto llegaría a su fin ya que llovía casi constantemente y todas nuestras pertenencias y equipo se humedecieron o incluso se mojaron.
Por lo tanto, al día siguiente nos dirigimos a Kristiansand, donde pasamos la mayor parte del día en la furgoneta debido a las fuertes lluvias. Nuestra paciencia se puso a prueba y después de otro día de lluvia constante, decidimos subirnos al ferry y regresar a Austria. Esto puso un final ciertamente malo a un viaje por lo demás asombroso.

As you can tell from our final picture, we both extremely enjoyed Norway, its stunning landsca- pe, its people, its culture and its laid-back way of living. Although the weather in the end upset our plans, we were able to see and experience the countries beauty in our own way, and we are very thankful for this amazing little adventure. To be on the road with friends is one of the best things you can do.
Como puede ver en nuestra imagen final, ambos disfrutamos mucho de Noruega, su impresionante paisaje, su gente, su cultura y su relajada forma de vida. Aunque el clima al final trastornó nuestros planes, pudimos ver y experimentar la belleza del país a nuestra manera, y estamos muy agradecidos por esta pequeña y asombrosa aventura. Estar de viaje con amigos es una de las mejores cosas que uno puede hacer.
