Rain to Snow: An Analog Adventure Through Vancouver
It is rare that Vancouver is under a blanket of snow but when it is, it is beautiful.
By Joseph Gulizia
Armed with my Hasselblad 500 C/M and a couple rolls of Ilford HP5 Pro 400 film, Vancouver turned into my photographic playground. Growing up in a desert I have always been drawn to snow. It dampens all sounds and the world seems as if it is standing still. There is something so poetic, so beautiful about the snow. I find it hard to grasp in color photos, so using black and white was a conscious decision. I want to show the usual, sometimes mundane and over done, in a new light. Just as a city covered in snow is completely different from the day to day I am used to.
