We’ve made it to the pristine white beach where we’re meeting other divers for this excursion. Ten minutes later, we’re at our first dive site. The water is cold but refreshing and I feel secure in my gear. We’re anticipating seeing humpback and grey whales at this time of year. A great diving mask fits comfortably without adjustments. Upwelling in winter can reduce visibility but luckily, I see the whales, turtles, squid, and enormous walls of amberjack clearly through my Jupiter diving mask.

My dog Rona begs for his own tour of Cabo Pulmo so we set out to stroll the small town. On a dusty street, we pass our friends Kyle and Jodie on their Kawasaki W175. I smile and nod in their direction. Rona and I carry on our exploration for another hour until we’ve seen all that we can see.
