Breaks in the day often consist of sitting by a campfire, connecting in my broken Spanish with the local Gauchos. Mate is the drink of choice. The warmth is welcome and eases my stiff bones.

I slide out of my tent as the cool air moves across the grassy valley.

I pull my dry socks over my feet and bask in the sunlight. These are the days that will stick with me the most. Those little moments of clarity that I will remember for a lifetime.

Spending months on horseback my home needs to be as tough as my spirit. The weather in Patagonia changes quick and often. To be able to creep into my tent knowing I will be protected from the elements eases my mind and pushes me forward on the long journey ahead.
