I wanted nothing more than a hearty meal after a long day in the elements. I knew when I opened my bag and pulled out some beef and potato stew it was going to be good.

I feel completely exposed to the powerful elements. It's time to put my shell jacket back on. Drops of moisture bead all over my upper body. It's only a few minutes before that sweat turns to freezing cold and covers me when I stop my march upward to put on my coat.

The zipper of my sled is blocked by snow and my fingers are cold. I lack a lot of flexibility to open it. It all seems like an effort to me. I grab my jacket in mid-flight: It came so close to flying away and disappearing in Lom Fjord. We make camp in the shadow of a tower of ice that blocks the wind.

We explore an ice cave, cutting deep into the heart of a wall of ice. It glistens a deep blue and green, transitioning from black and grey as I light up the wall in front of me.

I remain silent and amazed, my eyes focus on the aurora which begins to dance this evening above our tent.
Hel Sport
I look off across this frozen land, each step a moment for me to take in. I pull my beanie over my head to protect myself from the elements, take a deep breath and think about the adventure ahead.
