Now portable power stations feature greater capacity, faster charge times, more wattage, and a more compact design, and subsequently the new Anker Solix C1000 portable power stations is changing the game within the overlanding and van life community.

This year we set off to “The Moon” with big plans: more lights! more sound! and no noisy generators!

We came prepared with over 10,000 LED lights, a 30 foot LED light pole, 2 QSC K-12 Speakers, a Soundboks Go, and a Soundboks 4. In years past we would rely on bringing generators and gas cans to provide the power to make this happen. However this year we were able to produce all the power we need by harnessing the power of the sun and capturing it with our Anker Solix C1000.

Each day we would charge the Power Station via 3 x 200 Watt Anker solar panels capable of inputting 600W of solar, meaning a recharge in under 2 hours! This is a 20% decrease in charge time relative to comparable power stations.

Further, the Anker 200W modular/foldable solar panels are so lightweight and easy to transport that carrying 3 of these panels doesn’t add much to our overall vehicle weight during transport.

Each morning we would plug in our panels, and then enjoy coffee from Overland Cookery while connecting with new friends and old. By the time we were finished the Anker Solix was ready to power camp for another day, and without the obnoxious sounds of a generator ruining the sleep of those getting a late start.

When the day came for our day party at Vankookz Village the Anker was really put to the test. Here is what we needed to power:

The Anker Solix powered this party for 6 hours and still had 50% battery life to get us through the night. What I really like about this unit is that it features 6 x 1800 Watt AC outlets it’s basically a portable surge protector. At first I thought 6 x AC outlets was over kill but after literlly plugging something into every outlet and not needing any more extension cords or outlets we were even more sold on this unit. I never knew a portable power station could keep getting cooler as the event progresses.

Not only were we able to power our camp, we also lent it out to power a massive telescope to view the eclipse. The Anker also powered music from @ambientatlas and his music equipment while he preformed an amazing set while we enjoyed an intimate solar annular eclipse on the mesa with 400 of our closest friends.

The Anker Solix C1000 also features 2 x 12 Watt, USB A outputs and 1 x 100W USB C and 1 x 30W USB C outputs to power your phones and other devices. Also it has an app to monitor usage.

By far the most impressive feature to us is the recharge time from grid power . Once we returned to orbit we needed to refuel/recharge we were able to plug the unit in at the cafe and recharge in under an hour from 0% to 100%. In previous missions with other units we would have to hang out in a port town for sometime up to 6+ hours to recharge. This is an incredibly fast recharge time.
